About
Marqués de Murrieta were the original pioneers in Rioja Alta, establishing the estate in 1852 and focussing on developing greater complexity and longevity from Tempranillo. Today the Estate covers 300ha and the philosophy is one of quality, with low yields in the vineyard and limited production which are the key to the quality and style. Under the watchful eye of Vicente Dalmau, Marqués de Murrieta continue this pioneering spirit and constant quest for the best quality wines from Rioja. Indeed Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2010 was awarded the Best Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator.
